Leopards are one of Wilpattu’s major attractions, but sightings depend on natural wildlife conditions. We cannot guarantee that a leopard or any particular animal will be seen.

Wilpattu is famous for its Sri Lankan leopards, elephants and sloth bears. You may also see spotted deer, wild buffalo, crocodiles, monkeys and many species of birds. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

The dry season, generally February to October, is considered a good period for wildlife viewing because animals are more likely to gather around water sources.

Morning safaris commonly start around 6:00 AM, while afternoon safaris can be arranged depending on park regulations and the selected package. Wilpattu’s general wildlife viewing hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Yes, children can generally join a safari. Parents should consider the safari duration, early start time and sometimes bumpy road conditions when travelling with young children.
