About Nuwara Eliya
Nestled deep in the central highlands at an elevation of nearly 2,000 meters, Nuwara Eliya offers a dramatic change in scenery and climate from the tropical coast. Founded by British tea planters as a highland retreat, the city still retains its colonial architecture, manicured gardens, and classic post offices. From taking a chilly morning hike across the Horton Plains to enjoying a warm cup of world-renowned Ceylon tea fresh from the factory, Nuwara Eliya is a magical escape into the clouds.
