Understanding The Wind Seasons
Summer Season (May to October)
- The main kitesurfing season in Sri Lanka with very reliable wind.
- Wind speed averages between 18 to 25 knots.
- Wind direction is South-West, blowing consistently day and night.
- Perfect for both lagoon flat water riding and ocean wave riding.
- Water is warm, so no wetsuits are required (rash guard recommended).
Winter Season (December to March)
- The secondary season with smooth, thermal winds.
- Wind speed averages between 14 to 20 knots.
- Wind typically builds up in the afternoon (North-East direction).
- Clear blue skies and perfect tropical weather.
- Ideal conditions for beginners learning kite control in calm waters.
